Your Spine

Your spinal column is made of 24 bony vertebrae, properly aligned and connected by a series of joints, ligaments, and muscles. Interlocking joints called facets allow the vertebrae flexibility of movement, while discs between the vertebrae provide protective cushioning.

The vertebrae and discs in the lower back are the largest and carry the greatest body weight.
Strong back and abdominal muscles support the low
back area. A healthy spine is one that is properly aligned with its three natural curves; cervical (neck) thoracic: (middle, where your ribs attach) and lumbar (low back).

It can be through injury, poor posture, or repetitive motion that bones subluxate (become displaced).
The short term result is nerve pinching, pain.
The long term result of this condition is bone
spurring, joint malfunction, and disc degeneration.

If you have a problem that repeats itself, you are probably at some stage of this degenerative process. When proper alignment is restored, painful pressure on the muscles and ligaments can be relieved and healing can facilitated.
