adjustments instead of one big one. |

SOT
Sacro Occipital Technique is a system of balancing
the spine from top (occiput) to bottom (sacrum) using
blocks and non force adjusting. Again, the goal is to
relieve nerve pressure, restore normal function and allow
the body to heal itself.

Gonstead
Dr. Clarence Gonstead was a leader in early chiropractic
treatment. His forceful techniques are probably best known
to the general public as producing that "cracking
sound." Often effective, and used in our office,
this is commonly too much force for individuals with
special needs, such as osteoporosis, advanced arthritis,
children, seniors, and those for whom "that cracking
sound" produces fear. Careful consideration
of the whole person is performed before any course
of treatment is selected.

Extremity
Adjusting
Every joint in the body is capable of being
repositioned when it is out of alignment. Knees, ankles,
shoulders, elbows, fingers and wrists are all subjected
to forces that may require rebalancing.
|
Cranial
Adjusting
Yes, the bones of the cranium move very subtly
and can be treated with non force technique. This
is a very relaxing and subtle process, used chiefly for
headache and sinus pain, as well as many other conditions.

Physiotherapy
Electrical muscle stimulation can serve many purposes.
There are settings for pain relief, trigger point therapy,
polarity balancing, spasm reduction, edema reduction,
and joint fluid stimulation. In knowledgeable hands this
tool is invaluable for treatment of all kinds of
soft tissue injury.
Ultrasound is a warm and comfortable therapy designed
to treat the area where two differing kinds of tissue
meet: where tendon attaches to bone. Ultrasound softens
tissue, and encourages tissue healing while reducing internal tissue scarring.
Cross Friction Massage has an effect similar to
ultrasound, but is done by hand.

Trigger
Point Therapy
Trigger points are sites in your body where
energy accumulates. This energy has not yet been definitively
identified. It may be electrical, chemical, physical,
we are just not sure. But anyone who has had this
work done will tell you that the dispersion of the
accumulation is quite a relief.
Treatment can be with pressure, acupuncture (not performed
at this office), electrical stimulation or small mechanical
force, and they all work.

Nutrition
There is a wonderful library at the office that covers
vitamin, mineral, herbal, and homeopathic remedies. I
am personally a proponent of herbal therapies, however,
all these remedies are effective. Again, each individual
has different requirements, and must be considered individually.
I do not recommend, nor am I affiliated with a certain
company, peddling their products. This is strictly a case by
case basis. You ask, and I begin the research for your
specific problem, together we find answers.
The purpose is to lead patients away from drugs to a more
natural way to live. Yes, there are times when drugs
are required, but many more times when a natural remedy
is just as effective, and does not set up the
downward spiral of symptoms and problems that come as
a result of synthetic medicines.
Antibiotics
are a case in point. The overuse, misuse of antibiotics
has lead to a world of health crisis. This is not news.
It is been in print for years, and yet the medical world
continues to over pres-cribe, and the public continues
to misuse these dangerous drugs. Natural alterna-tives
include echinacea, goldenseal, citricidal and garlic,
astragalus olive leaf extracts and mushroom extracts.

These effective antibacterial antiviral, antifungal herbs
and extracts do not endanger the immune system, leaving
you vulnerable to the very next virus or other bug that
comes along.
We simply must get away from using antibiotics
from everyday ailments such as colds, flu's, bronchitis,
ear infections, dental work etc. Save those heavy drugs
for TB, pneumonia, times that you really do need something
quite strong. Just as so many of you are fearful of the
force of a manual adjustment or something too powerful
for your frame, I fear the force of drugs too powerful
for your constitution. We truly are delicate creatures.

Diet
There is no magic bullet that will suddenly take 20 lbs.
off you. Fad diets that propose high protein, no carbs
or all carbohydrates and no dairy or whatever out of balance
program that has been suggested have all fallen by the wayside.
Each has been found ineffective or even dangerous in its
own way.
A normal balance diet that includes lots of fruit and
vegetables and all other NATURAL food forms the earth
has provided for us with 30 minutes of exercise three
times a week will, over time, give you the health you
are looking for.
Isn't that boring? You've heard it a million times, you
keep looking for some magic that will do the trick, but
all you have to do is live sensibly.

Massage
Massage is available at this office on Tuesdays, by a
therapist who has been practicing for 20 years. She is
excellent, and like myself, tailors her work to the needs
of the patient.
Further, massage is often used as an adjusting technique.
Properly applied, it can also move subluxated (displaced)
vertebrae.
Human Touch Technology has developed a massage chair that
performs as advertised. After a lot of developmental
trial and
error,
this chair kneads, rolls, precusses, massages and
is used at this office frequently and effectively. It will
do the whole spine, or concentrate on a specific spot or
area. It massages the calves and feet. We are so happy to
have this technology available for you.

X-Ray
On site X-ray allows us to diagnose quickly and efficiently
without
having to send you across Auburn for these important
tests.
X-ray is a valuable tool to determine exactly what state
your spine is in. X-ray identifies fracture, degeneration,
disc space compression, arteriosclerosis, subluxation,
scoliosis, arthritis and its severity, and
many other conditions essential to know before treatment
begins.
From there we can determine if other testing is required,
and refer you
to the proper specialist as needed.
